An oddly warm and sunny January day gave us the perfect excuse to spend the morning in the capital city of Oklahoma. Cassie and Isaiah spent the hours walking around OKC and enjoying each other’s company, while I followed along and captured their day.
We started off the session with some sweet cuddly photos with the sun shining and the sky blue. The weather could not have been better and the harsh sun gave off the dreamiest sun flares.
The skyline was something I knew I wanted to make sure we captured, so I placed them on a street corner and got down to the ground shooting at an upward angle to get both them and the buildings behind them. I love how bright the sky looks in comparison to the edgy outfits of Cassie and Isaiah. I knew these two would look great together but the leather jacket/peacoat combo fit the aesthetic perfectly.
Towards the end of the session we found a little table to hang around and I broke out my Fujifilm x100v film simulation camera and gave it to Isaiah. He snapped some photos of Cassie and then they switched, all while I was capturing them having fun together. I absolutely loved how these photos turned out, it is so sweet to be able to see how each person captured the other and listening to them direct and pose each other was just adorable. This is definitely something I want to incorporate into more of my couples photo sessions moving forward.
This is a concept I have been wanting to do for a while, after I witnessed a precious moment during a wedding. The photographer I was second shooting for had handed her camera to the groom to hold for her while she fixed the bride’s veil, and he held the camera up and pretended to snap a photo of his new wife. I ended up being able to grab a photo of this moment and the smiles between the couple makes for such a heartfelt moment, but I kept thinking how fun it would be to actually incorporate this idea into a couples session.
I am so happy with how this session turned out and I hope it inspires you to try out that idea you’ve had in the back of your mind. Enjoy the pictures!
