Senior Series – Noelle

Noelle was a dream and shooting with her just flowed. We spent this gorgeous day outside at some of my favorite places to photograph seniors. After getting some shots at her high school, we headed to Gerald Ford Birthplace in Omaha, Nebraska. Noelle looked casual cute in some medium wash straight jeans and a corset like top. GFBP is an area with brick and other great architecture filled in with lush and various flower beds. We shot here on the first day of fall which was a late September Sunday this year and it couldn’t have been better weather or blooms.

Following GFBP, we headed over the Nebraska/Iowa boarder to Hitchcock Nature Center for our final location of the day. This gorgeous park has rolling hills and so many beautiful places for photos. I have yet to spend a day here that doesn’t end in the most colorful sunset, even when it’s overcast like you can see it was this day. This is a location I like to end at because by this point, my seniors are a lot more comfortable in front of the camera and the movement is a lot more free and flowing, which makes the photos look so natural.

My approach to photographing seniors is to demonstrate more than I explain. I feel like it is much easier for both of us when my senior is able to see what I want them to do and they can simply mirror the action. Once they have a good understanding of how I want them to move and position themselves, they typically end up getting into those poses much quicker, and moving on their own which really helps bring their personality and mannerisms to the photos.
